Welcome to Wake Up Pune 2010. This year we are focusing our efforts on expanding the original goals in a big way. Entirely volunteer-driven from its inception, Wake Up Pune has many committed, passionate, energetic volunteers very eager to get more involved in doing whatever they can to spread the 'Be HIV Positive' message.

In other words, our goal to build an army of volunteers to 'inspire civil society to challenge the misconceptions, ignorance, fear and stigma surrounding HIV' is shifting into high gear.

SPEAK UP. BE HIV POSITIVE. LET'S WAKE UP PUNE.

HIV prevalence in India and South Asia is growing among sex workers and other high risk groups due to widespread failure to prevent stigmatising of people living with AIDS, according to a new report.

Despite prevention and other efforts to reduce high-risk behaviours such as unprotected sex, buying and selling of sex, and injecting drug use, HIV vulnerability and risk remain high, says the report by a team from the International Centre for Research on Women and the World Bank.
